Several years ago, I learned how some “positive thinking” authors and bloggers deal with Optimal Thinking. They write spurious, mean-spirited reviews in an attempt to elevate positive thinking and discredit the Optimal Thinking philosophy, book, publisher and myself. On occasion, there are grains of truth in their comments (for which I am grateful). But all too often, it is clear that these people haven’t even read the book. As a result, I have found myself asking
Some years ago, a “positive thinking” author/blogger wanted to advertise in our Optimal Thinkers newsletter. As this newsletter is dedicated to Optimal Thinking techniques, we were unable to accommodate his request. Soon after, three erroneous, nasty reviews about Optimal Thinking appeared on Amazon.com lauding this author’s book. Amazon.com eventually took down all reviews from this “positive thinker”. Clearly, the Optimal Thinking book was not the only target for this author.
In my 100-Day Optimal Thinking Audio Program, seminars, coaching and other programs, I have continually stated that although positive thinking has five shortcomings, it is valuable. I also believe that negative thinking can be valuable. Negative thinking alerts us to vulnerabilities so that we can best deal with them.
So what do you believe? I believe it is best to allow the truth to reign. Simply ask questions like:

Jealousy is a big problem for a lot of people. You have a big perspective.
There are so many liars and cheats on the internet. If that’s the way these people have to get ahead, we have to pity them.
