Los Angeles, June 8, 2002 – Last Friday, President George Bush declared: “We need a new way of thinking!” Beverly Hills-based Rosalene Glickman, Ph.D., author of Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self (John Wiley & Sons, April 2002), agrees with President Bush and has developed this new way of thinking. It’s called Optimal Thinking.

Dr. Glickman recently conducted research about how people are thinking. Of the 378 participants in her original survey, 17 are Optimal Thinkers. Unfortunately 259 participants think in the old way — that is, they are mediocre thinkers, extraordinarily negative thinkers, or consistently negative thinkers. The remaining 102 participants are extraordinarily positive thinkers but, according to Dr. Glickman, these people are settling for second best. “All of us can optimize — rather than improve or manage — any situation by asking optimal questions to invite optimal solutions. We must also develop optimal contingency plans when the cost and probability of failure are high. We often hear the phrase ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ Well, we are ‘broke.’ With the threat of terrorism looming over our heads, it’s time to fix our thinking. Optimal Thinking is what we need right now. It’s a fail-safe idea whose time has come.”
